Plan to join us 16 May in Amsterdam as NAID unpacks how the forthcoming General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will specifically affect our industry and provide actionable steps to grow business as a result.
As widely reported here and elsewhere, the GDPR marks a dramatic increase in data protection requirements for all businesses in Europe, as well as businesses outside the region that possess information of European citizens.
The GDPR goes into effect on 25 May 2018. It will be a busy year for NAID-Europe as it continues to help prepare members for this new opportunity.
“The GDPR is big news because it can’t be business as usual for any type of company or public sector body after May 2018. If it is business as usual after that point, there will be consequences for companies and organisations, whether they are big or small, public or private, and those consequences will be very significant.”
– Helen Dixon, Ireland Data Protection Commissioner
“Dixon’s comment is more than idle speculation,” says NAID CEO, Bob Johnson. “We watched it happen in the US when HIPAA and GLB became law. Those who take time to prepare will profit enormously. Those who do not prepare will struggle. It is that simple. It’s the association’s job to provide the education and resources.”
